Tutorial: How to reset the “Maintenance Key” on your Citroën

You just had the oil and filters changed on your Citroën at a trusted garage, but that little light in the shape of a wrench Is the light still on the dashboard? Or does the dashboard continue to display the message “Overdue Review”?

Don’t worry! This is just a reminder programmed by the onboard computer. In today’s video/text, we’ll teach you how to reset this warning easily, without needing a professional scanner.

This procedure works on most models sold in Brazil: New C3, old C3, C4 Cactus, C4 Lounge, Aircross and C3 Picasso.

Step by Step (The Secret to Success)

1. With the car switched off: Locate the odometer reset button on the instrument panel (it’s usually a physical button with the icon of “000” or “SET” near the dials, or at the tip of the turn signal lever on some models).
2. Press and hold: Keep the button pressed with the ignition still off.
3. Turn the key: Without releasing the button, turn the key only to the ignition position (or press the Start/Stop button). without stepping on the brakes(so as not to start the engine).
4. The countdown: You will see a count of 10 to 0 appearing on the panel. Continue holding the button.
5. Completion: When the countdown reaches =0 If the maintenance key disappears, release the button.
6. Confirmation: Turn off the ignition and start the car again. The warning should be gone!

Important Tip from the Expert

Don’t ignore maintenance! Resetting the warning light on the dashboard does not replace a mechanical inspection. The Citroën system warns based on time (usually 1 year) or mileage (10,000 km). Only reset it if you are certain that preventive maintenance has been performed.

Using oil outside the manufacturer’s specifications in Citroën engines (especially Puretech and THP engines) can cause serious long-term damage.
