The Logic of the System: The instrument panel is just a screen; it doesn’t “know” anything, it only displays what the engine tells it via the data network. The U1208 code means that the panel is working, but the “message” that the engine sent with the temperature and RPM data was corrupted or lost along the way.
- Possible Solution: This is a classic mistake of electromagnetic interference. Check if you have recently installed aftermarket LED or Xenon bulbs. Poor quality ballasts generate electrical noise that “messes up” the data network. If the car is stock, the culprit may be a loose rear connector on the dashboard itself. Remove the dashboard trim, disconnect the main plug, apply contact cleaner, and reattach it firmly.
