When the airbag light comes on in the C3’s dashboard, the system is deactivated for safety reasons. Although it could be a sensor under the seats (common if you move the seat a lot), the most frequent cause in Citroën models is wear and tear. Airbag Clock Spring (also called Clockspring or part of the module With 2000).

  • Focused Model: Citroën C3 (First and Second Generation).
  • Location of Protection: The fuse that protects the airbag module is located in BSI (Integrated Services Box), which is located inside the cabin, usually behind the cover below the steering wheel or in the glove compartment.
  • Correct Fuse: Typically, the fuse responsible for the airbag system is the… F15, with amperage of 15A.

Cause of the Problem:

  1. Airbag Clock Spring (With 2000): Inside the turn signal and wiper assembly (behind the steering wheel), there is a coiled flat cable that allows the steering wheel to turn without breaking the airbag and horn wires. Over time, this cable breaks. If the horn is also malfunctioning or if you hear a “plastic scraping” noise when turning the steering wheel, the problem is in the ribbon cable and not the fuse.
  2. Connectors under the seat: If the fuse F15 (15A) If it’s working properly, check the orange connectors under the front seats. Often, when cleaning the car or moving the seat, the plug can come loose slightly, causing poor contact and turning on the warning light.

Safety Tip: Never tamper with the airbag connectors or attempt to change the fuse with the ignition on. Ideally, wait 10 minutes after turning off the car to avoid accidental deployment (although rare). Consult a specialist.
