What do you feel? When going over speed bumps or braking slowly, you hear a squeaking sound like dry rubber: “nhec-nhec”.
The Logic of the Problem: The control arm (or wishbone) is the arm that holds the wheel. It is attached to the car by rubber bushings. Over time, this rubber dries out or tears. In addition to the noise, this causes the car to “pull” to the sides during braking, as the wheel gains play back and forth.
- Possible Solution: Replacement of Tray Bushings. In the Citroën Aircross and C3, it’s common for the rear control arm bushing to break first.. Tip: Do not replace the entire tray if it is not warped; replacing only the bushings in a hydraulic press saves approximately 60% of the part’s cost.
