Very common in engines 2.0 16V (EW10A) and 1.6 THP. It causes loss of torque and engine knocking.
- What the car is saying: “I tried adjusting the valve opening time, but the control unit didn’t respond.”
- Common Cause: Failure VVT solenoid valve (Variable transmission) or use of oil with incorrect viscosity. If the oil is too thick or dirty, it cannot move the variable pulley.
- Solution: Change the oil to the specified level (5W30 or 5W40 synthetic) and clean the VVT solenoid valve strainer.
