2. The Citroën logo has a special meaning.
Those two “V”-shaped arrows in the logo aren’t just a pretty design. They represent gear teeth! André Citroën learned this technique in Poland, where he saw gears with teeth shaped like a herringbone pattern.
This discovery was so important that he patented the technique and used it in his factories. That’s why the brand’s logo carries this story to this day.
3. Citroën created the first car with headlights that turned with the steering wheel.
This is truly surprising: in 1967, Citroën launched the DS with directional headlights. This meant that when you turned the steering wheel, the headlights also turned to illuminate the curve!
It was a revolutionary technology for its time. Just imagine: while other cars had fixed headlights, Citroën was already thinking about safety in a way that no one had imagined before.
4. There is a Citroën that runs without traditional springs.
The Citroën DS’s suspension system was so advanced it looked like something out of a science fiction movie. Instead of normal springs, the car used a hydraulic system with pressurized oil.
The result? The car moved up and down on its own, adapted to different types of roads, and offered incredible comfort. It was like riding on a cloud! Even today, many people are impressed when they see this system in action.
5. Citroën was the first brand to use illuminated advertising in the sky.
In 1925, Citroën did something no one had tried before: they placed 250,000 light bulbs on the Eiffel Tower, forming the brand’s name. The advertisement could be seen from 40 kilometers away!
It was the largest illuminated advertisement in the world at the time. For six years, anyone passing through Paris at night could see the Citroën name shining on France’s most famous monument.
