If the starter motor turns but the engine doesn’t start, it could be a lack of ignition or a lack of fuel. The fuel pump is the first item to check in the fuel system.
- Focused Model: Citroën C4 Hatch, Pallas or Lounge (typical models).
- Location of Protection: The fuse that protects the fuel pump power circuit is located in Engine Service Module (BSM), under the hood, near the battery.
- Correct Fuse: The specific fuse for the fuel pump is typically the… F13, with amperage of 15A.
Diagnosis: When the fuse F13 (15A) If the fuel pump burns out, it loses power and fails to pressurize the system. The car won’t start because there’s no gasoline or ethanol reaching the injectors. To confirm this, have someone turn the key to the “ON” position (without starting the engine) while you listen near the tank: the characteristic sound of the pump pressurizing (a quick hum) won’t be heard. Replacing the fuse should solve the problem if the pump isn’t stuck (which would cause it to blow the fuse again).
