The Logic of the Problem: The AL4 transmission operates using oil pressure. If the pressure drops or rises too much, the computer locks the car in 3rd gear to protect the internal gears. It’s a “safety mode” to allow you to reach a repair shop without damaging the transmission.
- Possible Solution: Most of the time, the culprits are the Solenoid valves Pressure plates. They get clogged or worn out over time. Replacing these two small parts usually solves 80% of problems with jerking and emergency mode.
