What do you feel? You press the air conditioning button, the light comes on, but the air coming out is hot. You don’t hear that characteristic “click” of the engine engaging the compressor, and the car’s RPM doesn’t even change.
The Logic of the System: The injection control unit receives your request to turn on the air conditioning, but it checks if the compressor is safe to start (if there is enough gas and if the relay is working). The code B162C indicates that the control unit tried to activate the relay, but there was no power return.
- Possible Solution: The problem is almost never the compressor. In the Citroën line, the air conditioning relay is internal and soldered inside the… BSM (Engine Fuse Box). If there is a short circuit in the wiring harness or if the compressor is overloaded, the relay will burn out. The solution is to repair the BSM board or replace the part with one of the same part number. Also check the F11 fuse BSM before any expensive diagnosis.
