What happens: The temperature gauge rises rapidly or the “STOP” light comes on in stopped traffic, but returns to normal when you pick up speed on the highway. You notice that the cooling fan up front never turns on.
Where is he: It is hidden beneath the main sign of BSM (under the hood). These are the so-called Maxi-Fuses. It is usually the MF1 40A or 50A (Orange/Red).
- Possible Solution: Because it’s a high-amperage fuse, it won’t blow easily. If it’s blown, the fan might be stuck or the wiring harness might be short-circuited. Visually check if the fan spins freely by hand (with the engine off!). Replacing this fuse could save your engine from needing an overheating repair.
