What do you feel? The air conditioning starts out cooling very well, but after about 20 or 30 minutes of driving, the airflow decreases drastically until it stops blowing altogether, although you can still hear the fan blowing strongly. If you turn the air conditioning off for 5 minutes and then turn it back on, it returns to normal for a while longer.
The Logic of the System: The evaporator is the part that cools inside the dashboard. To prevent it from turning into a block of ice, there’s a sensor that alerts the control unit: “Hey, it’s too cold, turn off the compressor for a bit.” If code B1325 appears, the sensor has failed. The system doesn’t know when to stop, the evaporator literally freezes, creating a wall of ice that blocks airflow.
- Possible Solution: The replacement of Defrost sensor (or thermistors). It is usually located on the side of the air box, near the driver’s or passenger’s feet. It’s an inexpensive and easily accessible part, which prevents you from having to unnecessarily “check the gas,” since the problem is purely electronic.
